New Car

Ok , so it was second hand but it is new to us . It’s a 2004 Magna and its in great condition as you can see from the photos.

We traded in our two cars to get it so we are a one car family now.

Christmas Time

Yes we are coming to that part of the year that fills me with dread. Christmas time !!! Suddenly all the shops are crowded and its hard to park. So many people , it always brings on my anxiety attacks. Then of course there is eating lunch with the rest of my family which I always find uncomfortable as I don’t fit in with them at all.

Also I always feel sad after Christmas day as it used to be so exciting when I was little but now it’s nothing but a let down.

I don’t know why I feel like I do but that’s just me I guess.

I’ve been trying to write some more positive poetry but I don’t seem able too. I guess I only write when I’m feeling bad , is that a god thing or not ?

My Aunt

This is me with my Aunt Betty . I never knew her much until recently but we have developed a strong bond . She likes books and movies like we do and she is great to talk to . And , unlike the rest of my family, is happy to see both me and my wife. We talk a lot on the phone but its a long drive for me to go to her place very often unfortunately.

Sleeping Doggies

This is a rare picture of our two dogs , Coco and Buster , sleeping with my mother in laws dog, Suzie.

Suzie is the black one, Buster is the grey one and Coco is upside down in her bed. lol

The Monk

one hundred tiny minds
one hundred different kinds
so it seems
what it means
to you and me
for others to see
what it takes
how it breaks
lost in thought
for wars we fought
where to begin
to wash the sin
of our own mood
of life we sued
the day will end
the words will bend
for all our sake
our words will break
there's no tomorrow
for strife and sorrow
there's only today
that's what I say.

Another day goes past

My mother in law is going to be staying with us for a few days as she is having a small eye operation and she’ll need looking after.

I’m struggling with my sleep patterns as I have reduced my intake of sleeping tablets as my body was getting to use to them I think.

I have used up most of my monthly allowance from my ISP as I downloaded the complete Inspector Morse onto dvd which will be great for viewing over the boring summer months of non rating Tv shows.

We have replaced all our old globes with low energy saving ones now so hopefully that will cut down our electricity bills a bit.

We just got a letter saying our gas bill is going to go up by nearly double which is a shock, looks like we will have to stop using our central heating so much during winter.

Oh well , off to make some lunch and then read a bit before my mother in law rolls up.

Take care all.

Silence Reigns ( and everybody gets wet )

Driven to the edge of insanity

left to rot by humanity

build up the walls around me

build them up so I'll never be free

sometimes I just want to be alone

living my life on my own

ending it when I see fit

putting out the candle when it was lit

it's my life, it's my life

woven between struggle and strife

where are the friends who were there before

driving a knife right through to the core

dogs bark and birds fly away

and I fight for the words that I want to say

what it is I really mean

hidden by life I've so rarely seen.

Windows 7

I have been using windows 7 for a couple of weeks now and it is the best operating system Microsoft have put out.

I used to think windows xp was great but this one is brilliant. I wish I had a newer computer to make full use of it but I can’t afford to upgrade.

Falling Rainbows

with the fall of rainbows

where the sky meets the sea

with deep depressing lows

that’s where you’ll find me.

hidden by unknown people

in my own private place

like a church’s steeple

built by black lace.

deciding between two things

between life and death

dealing with what life brings

and coping with the rest.

standing on the edge of a cliff

waiting to fly above

with the wind I feel the lift

flying like the wings of a dove.

Damn

My team lost the grand final by two goals , we were leading for much of the match but got over run in the last few minutes. So we still only have one grand final win for about one hundred years of being around. Oh well , there's always next year . Sad

From Thom Yorke of Radiohead

Harry Patch (In Memory Of)
"i am the only one that got through
the others died where ever they fell
it was an ambush
they came up from all sides
give your leaders each a gun and then let them fight it out themselves
i've seen devils coming up from the ground
i've seen hell upon this earth
the next will be chemical but they will never learn"

Recently the last remaining UK veteran of the 1st world war Harry Patch died at the age of 111.
I had heard a very emotional interview with him a few years ago on the Today program on Radio4.
The way he talked about war had a profound effect on me.
It became the inspiration for a song that we happened to record a few weeks before his death.
It was done live in an abbey. The strings were arranged by Jonny.
I very much hope the song does justice to his memory as the last survivor.

It would be very easy for our generation to forget the true horror of war, without the likes of Harry to remind us.
I hope we do not forget.

As Harry himself said
"Irrespective of the uniforms we wore, we were all victims".

This morning the Today program played the song for the first time and now it is available to download from our website.

The proceeds of this song will go to the British Legion.

To peace and understanding.

Windows Problems

My windows xp died today which meant I had to reinstall it and then spend ages doing all the updates  . I have reinstalled some of my programs but I'm too buggered to do anymore today.

Still Winning

Its really exciting as my team has won 17 in a row now and is undefeated. There are only 22 rounds in the season and then the finals . I still can’t believe we have done this well and although we haven’t won the finals yet it has still been an amazing season. Fingers crossed for the rest of the year.

The Tour de France is almost over for another year and I’ve enjoyed staying up to watch it although I’m looking forward to getting back to a somewhat normal sleeping pattern. The TV coverage has been a bit disappointing this year with ad breaks taken at vital moments in the race. For example , one stage the commentators had spent the entire stage of the race talking about a mountain climb coming towards the end and just when they hit the climb they went to an ad , of course when they came back the damage had been done and the top riders had broken away. There is no excuse for the timing of the ad apart from trying to make money by the TV station. The problem is that the TV station used to be government funded as it is a multicultural station and used to have no ad breaks but government cutbacks over the years has recently meant they have had to start putting ads on . Very frustrating , as they show a lot of great foreign films on there that the commercial stations wouldn’t touch. Oh well, that’s life I guess.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince movie

Just watched it and whilst I did enjoy it they have left so much out from the book as well as changing major scenes . I wont spoil it for anyone that hasnt seen it yet but there were some major bits left out which disappointed me a lot . Maybe the book had too much to put into one movie and I see that for the last book they are actually making two films , parts 1 and 2 . For people who haven’t read the book they might be a bit confused about some bits but they should enjoy it anyway. For fans of the books , like me , they will be upset at the changes and stuff left out . If only they would film those bits and then include them as bonus features when the dvd comes out like the did with the Lord Of The Rings extended versions.

The copy I downloaded was only average quality so I’lll still download the good version when it eventually comes out to go with the rest of the collection.

Winning

My Aussie rules football team , St. Kilda , is on top of the ladder after 15 rounds of the competition , undefeated !!!!! Unbelievable . I have followed them since I was a kid and most of that time we have been on the bottom. Our club has been in the comp for around 100 years and as won the premiership once , way back in 1966 . I’m not counting my chickens before they hatch but it would be great if they won it this year. I would like to be able to celebrate it at least once. I was two years old when they one it last time.

The doggies are giving me unhappy looks because I won’t take them for a walk because it looks like its about to rain and its cold too . But , in my condition , I can’t take them every day anyway. Coco really pulls hard on the lead which can hurt my back. In fact usually after walking them I have to lie down for awhile to recover.

The new Harry Potter movie starts today so I’ve will have to try convince my wife to take me to the movies , I’d like to see it on the big screen.

I feel tired because I have been staying up watching the Tour de France every night so my sleeping patterns are all jumbled up. There’s still two weeks to go too.

Time to feed the dogs then I might lie down for awhile.

If anyone is wanting some relaxation music I suggest Tony O’Connor , I have about 5 of his cds and they are great to drift off to sleep to, or just to relax with.

I have put an example up that I found on you tube which includes an amazing video of seahorses.

Another Doggie

We are minding my Mother-In-Law's little dog for a few days so we have three little ones running around under our feet. I'll try take a pic of her but shes all black , and old , so she might not show up that well. My spray seems to be working on my nose so far , but the big test will be when I stop using it next thursday. From then on I'm only supposed to use it when I need it , like how am I'm supposed to know until its too late .

Honey

Thanks for the advice about taking honey for my hayfever , fortunately I love honey and eat honey sandwiches whenever I can . I am feeling tired at the moment as I've been staying up late watching the Tour de France , it finishes somewhere between 2 to 4 in the morning , depending on the stage. The cricket starts tonight but for some reason I don't feel that interested which is weird for me . Maybe its due to the Tour being on at the same time , or maybe its due to the fact that theres so much cricket on these days that it looses the impact it once had.
Back to bed for awhile.

Good News

well I’ve seen the specialist and I don’t have to have an operation . Turns out I have chronic hayfever so he gave me a script for a spray to take once a day for the next two weeks and then whenever I need it. Unfortunately the spray costs $42 , so I hope it lasts for awhile but the bottle isn’t very big. But it seems to be doing the job so far .

The Tour De France starts tomorrow night and I’ll be watching as much as I can , I love it, it’s a great event. I’ve really got into it over the last 4 years and it’s one of  the highlights of the sporting year for me now.
